How Ductless Air Conditioner Systems Work
Conventional central air conditioning moves warm air through ducts to a central point in your attic or closet. The air is then run over refrigerant-filled evaporator coils to your outdoor unit.
A ductless air conditioner system, also known as a mini-split, works just like a conventional air conditioning system -- just without the ducts. With ductless, a small indoor unit resides in the same room it is cooling.
Multiple indoor units can be connected to a single outdoor compressor, providing cooling for the whole house.
